Project brief
A nine-unit social housing scheme in the centre of Holyhead, accessed off an existing housing estate.

Design details
With proposed materials taking reference to neighbouring dwellings, the strategy was to stick to a single, light- coloured brick and experimenting with form to create interest and depth to elevational treatment. The general forms reflected adjacent structures, with two storey units to the West and the single storey bungalows to the East. Perimeter hedging and trees were retained along with existing pedestrian links through to the improved play area, demonstrating how new housing proposal schemes can contribute towards placemaking within communities.

I wish to endorse DEWIS architecture. This is based upon the excellent work they undertook in the major refurbishment and adaptation of the Grade II listed Neuadd y Dref Building (Town Hall) in Llangefni, providing a fully functional solution to meet the demands of modern usage whilst retaining and highlighting the building’s heritage features. The work was completed thoroughly and with excellent attention to detail.
