Project brief
With one of the most spectacular spots on Anglesey as a backdrop, this challenging restoration of an historic building to provide a dwelling was sensitively approached.

Design details
Structural strengthening of what was left of the existing structure was the first crucial step towards restoring the former quarryman’s barracks. A subtly designed extension, subservient in form and mass to the original footprint was included too, to create space for the adequate provision of accommodation. Conservation principles played a strong part in the design process of the proposed dwelling within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, fully restoring the clock- tower being integral to its success.
